ACJPS presents this report to the African Commission for Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) with the aim of shedding light on the gross human rights violations committed in Sudan since 15th April 2023.

ACJPS is deeply concerned about the increased cases of detention operations and the use of torture by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its allied forces in Sinjah town, violating numerous provisions of international human rights and humanitarian law.

In the absence of state control and weak border surveillance, organized human trafficking networks have exploited the needs of war refugees, especially women and children, subjecting them to various forms of violence, sexual exploitation, forced labor, sale, and abduction. These networks operate along the desert roads used by Sudanese refugees, using smuggling as a cover for human trafficking activities. Often, the victims of these networks are transported to unknown destinations or are forced to perform labor in transit countries.

The recent developments in North Darfur State indicate that the entire Darfur Region is being ushered into a new series of insecurity, which may be worse than the 2004 crisis. The nature of the war began on April 15, 2024, leading the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to take control of four of the five States in the Darfur region.

Genocide and atrocity crimes are being committed now in North Darfur. The RSF is engaged in the mass killing of civilians and will likely continue this if/when they reach El Fasher.

The African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies (ACJPS) and the Humans Dignity Organisation strongly condemn the recent heinous attacks on civilians by the SAF Air Force Unit in the Tora area of North Darfur, which resulted in several fatalities and injuries.

ACJPS seeks to engage the services of a Film-making consultant under a project titled “Increased Advocacy for Ending Human Trafficking and Smuggling in Sudan through Documentation.” The project aims to document and highlight the experiences of survivors of human trafficking and smuggling in Sudan, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict.

ACJPS expresses profound concern about the recent political developments in Sudan, which could potentially further escalate the ongoing armed conflict, exacerbate the human rights crisis, and hinder accountability efforts.

Mr. Yasir Saeed Arman, the Chairperson of the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement- Revolutionary Democratic Current who is also the former political advisor to Mr. Abdalla Hamdok, the previous Sudanese Prime Minister, as well as a leader in the former Taqaddum coalition was arrested and detained by Interpol upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya.

ACJPS strongly urges the Sudanese authorities to address the urgent issue of weapon contamination in the Tukar locality of the Red Sea state.

يرصد هذا البحث ظاهرة الاختفاء القسري في السودان باعتبارها واحدة من أخطر الانتهاكات لحقوق الانسان والتي تجمع بين الحرمان من الحرية والانتهاك المستمر للكرامة الإنسانية في السياق السوداني ارتبطت هذه الظاهرة بتاريخ طويل من الصراعات المسلحة والاضطرابات السياسية التي أدت إلى تصاعد الانتهاكات واستمرارها على مدى العقود , الحروب في جنوب السودان والنيل الأزرق وجبال النوبة بالإضافة الى النزاع المستمر في دارفور , أسهمت بشكل كبير في ترسيخ ممارسة الاختفاء القسري حيث استخدمت القوات الحكومية والميليشيات الموالية لها وكذلك الحركات المسلحة هذه الجريمة للسيطرة والتخويف .

يُعد النزاع في السودان أحد أخطر الأزمات الإنسانية التي خلفت تأثيرات مدمرة على الأطفال، باعتبارهم من أكثر الفئات هشاشة في المجتمع، تشير التقارير الموثوقة إلى أن الأطفال يتعرضون لانتهاكات جسيمة تشمل القتل، التشويه، التجنيد القسري، والعنف الجنسي، إضافة إلى الاختطاف، والنزوح، والحرمان من التعليم والخدمات
