ACJPS is deeply concerned about the increased cases of detention operations and the use of torture by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its allied forces in Sinjah town, violating numerous provisions of international human rights and humanitarian law.

In the absence of state control and weak border surveillance, organized human trafficking networks have exploited the needs of war refugees, especially women and children, subjecting them to various forms of violence, sexual exploitation, forced labor, sale, and abduction. These networks operate along the desert roads used by Sudanese refugees, using smuggling as a cover for human trafficking activities. Often, the victims of these networks are transported to unknown destinations or are forced to perform labor in transit countries.

The African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies (ACJPS) and the Humans Dignity Organisation strongly condemn the recent heinous attacks on civilians by the SAF Air Force Unit in the Tora area of North Darfur, which resulted in several fatalities and injuries.

ACJPS applauds General Abdul Fatah Abdul Rahman Al-Burhan, the chairperson of the Sudanese Sovereign Council and the high command of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), for lifting the ban on passport applications and renewals.

ACJPS expresses deep concern for the safety and well-being of three civilians who have been arrested and detained incommunicado in the Blue Nile and South Darfur states, including one held in an undisclosed location.

A few days after SAF captured Aljazeera state, the population witnessed a systematic targeting of civilians accused of being affiliated with or collaborating with RSF while they (RSF) were in control of the state.

Since November 2023, Central Darfur has witnessed a deterioration in the security and human rights situation with an increase in violations such as extra judiciary killing, arbitrary arrests, and lotting among others.

ACJPS documents new patterns of violations and early warning signs of an escalation of armed conflict that is; attacks on civilians by the RSF in Al Gazira State consequently leading to the death and displacement of hundred residents, and the armament of civilians in Eastern Sudan and Darfur region.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) currently controls four out of five Darfur states. There have been reports of increased human rights violations in areas controlled by the RSF, and ACJPS expresses deep concern for the civilians in these states. In this report, ACJPS documents the violations committed against the civilians in the Darfur region between July and September 2024.

ACJPS expresses deep concern over the increased targeting of civilians in Kasala by General Intelligence Services (GIS) Officers. We want to echo the residents' voices and demand that the authorities in Kasala hold the perpetrators of these violations accountable and bring them to book. In this release, ACJPS documents several incidents of grave human rights violations commited by GIS officers against civilians in Kasala.

ACJPS is concerned about the safety and well-being of Mr. Alfatih Ali, a humanitarian who was arrested by RSF in Nyala, South Darfur, and remains in detention to date. We call upon the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in South Darfur to guarantee his physical and psychological integrity while in detention.
