This report reviews the main developments in human rights in Sudan during October 2026. It sets out the documented violations and the health and humanitarian conditions in a number of states and regions, and what they mean for civilians as the conflict goes on and protection and the response to basic needs shrink.

As the United Kingdom prepares to mark Remembrance Day, we, organisations documenting casualties in conflict and post-conflict settings across the world, call on the UK Government to strengthen its support for those documenting the human cost of armed conflict.

During July, August, and September 2026, the report recorded civilian casualties, both deaths and injuries, in Darfur, Kordofan, Khartoum, and Blue Nile, as well as continued arrests and enforced disappearances affecting civilians, activists, humanitarian workers, and journalists.

The September 2026 report documents ongoing conflict-related violations across several Sudanese states, including killings, the targeting of civilians through shelling and drone strikes, arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and torture, alongside deteriorating conditions in prisons and detention centers and unfair trials.

This report documents numerous violations of children's right to education in Sudan following the outbreak of war. It also examines the state of education and the future of children in Sudan and offers recommendations for addressing the current crisis in the education system.

In August 2026, Sudan witnessed a continued deterioration in security, human rights, and humanitarian conditions, with an escalation of aerial bombardments, drone attacks, and armed clashes. Killings, the targeting of civilians, and arbitrary arrests and detentions also continued. The most significant events were concentrated in Darfur, Kordofan and Blue Nile states, resulting in civilian casualties and the displacement of large numbers of people.

Every year on 30 August, the world marks the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. The day is an important reminder that enforced disappearance is not merely the loss of a person from public view. It is a continuing violation that places victims outside the protection of the law and condemns families to live between hope and grief, often without knowing whether their loved ones are alive, detained, tortured, or dead.

Ahead of the UN Human Rights Council’s 63rd session (7 September-7 October 2026), we, the undersigned civil society organisations, write to urge your delegation to support a full two-year mandate extension for the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) for the Sudan.

This report documents a severe deterioration in the humanitarian, health, and human rights situation in Sudan during July 2026 as a result of the ongoing armed conflict and the escalation of violations in several states, particularly Kordofan, Darfur, Blue Nile, and White Nile.

SHRM and ACJPS have submitted their joint report to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism of the United Nations Human Rights Council as part of Sudan’s 2026 review cycle. The report highlights the widespread and systematic violations committed since the outbreak of the war on 15 April 2023 and assesses the extent to which Sudan has implemented the recommendations issued during its third UPR cycle, which were formally communicated to the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs in August 2022.

This report provides a comprehensive account of the health situation of children in Sudan following the outbreak of war on April 15, 2023, which led to one of the most severe humanitarian crises affecting civilians and the health sector.

The report documents recurring patterns of violations, including the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, arbitrary arrests and detentions, as well as grave violations against children, including killing, widespread displacement, and recruitment during the period of April, May, and June 2026.
